Behind every creation, there is a story to be told. Allow me a few minutes to share jmy background, how I found my voice, the inspiration, what to expect, and how to stay connected at DeNight Owl.

Background

On November 30th, 2024, I began this blog by posting my first article and video about discovering my life's purpose. In that video, I recounted how, 16 years earlier, on November 30th, 2008, I lost my mother in a car accident. After a four-day coma and recovery, my cognitive abilities and social skills were affected. While piecing together those four days and reflecting on my life, I realized God had a greater plan for me. I was on a mission to uncover it.

In finding my purpose, I've cultivated God-given talents and hobbies. Whenever I was bored, my friends and family noticed me trying out various hobbies. I explored drawing, knitting, crocheting, and writing. I got creative with different graphic programs, making slideshow videos, photo edits, content on Microsoft apps, and even websites. Although I bounced between hobbies, I'd revisit each until boredom struck, only to return when inspired. Among all my hobbies, I've focused more on my drawings and handmade projects but kept my writing private.

Finding My Voice

For years, I struggled to find my voice, often feeling unheard and suppressing my emotions. College was a turning point with a fresh start in a new city. Away from my family's and church's influence, I felt safe expressing myself and letting people in again. In Boston, I shared my background and identity, forming deep connections. My maturity and resilience impressed people, given my mother's early passing. I had a positive outlook and huge faith in God for where He has brought me from and how he was continuing to bless me. As I shared my journey, I gained insights from experiences and realized the importance of my story. Conversations with others inspired them and affirmed my growth. Today, I continue to work on my character, growing more confident in expressing myself.

Embracing my newfound confidence, I worked on my memoir. What could this 26-year-old who had barely experienced life write in her memoir? Sometimes, it's not about the years lived but the quality of those years. My memoir is a work in progress, aiming to inspire others to share their stories and the power of different perspectives. Meanwhile, I created DeNight Owl 2.0 to build an online presence leading to my memoir.

Inspiration

I had long desired to write my memoir, but God directed me to impart my wisdom in alternative ways. Despite initial uncertainty, social media inspired me with quotes on character and values, prompting me to start the original DeNight Owl. The blog aimed to share insights from quotes I collected. However, my perfectionism and self-consciousness hindered its success, as I struggled with content creation and finding suitable quotes. The intent was there, but the execution fell short.

Three years later, I revived DeNight Owl. During that period, as I began working on my memoir, journaling more, and writing sermons, it was the right moment to start again. For years, I struggled to understand what God wanted me to do. I sensed I should do something, but it wasn't always straightforward. My worry for others overshadowed God's guidance, and my need for perfection got in the way. Had I continued my blog in 2021, it might be further along today. However, everything unfolds in its own time. I am a writer and author working on my memoir, a handmade textile designer for my business, a project manager at work, a spiritual leader at church, and a child of God. I have grown and flourished in these areas of my life, embracing my voice and not being concerned with what the world was doing around me.

What should you expect?

DeNight Owl is a development blog covering relationships, family dynamics, character development, and spiritual exploration. Each entry will reflect on the topic with casual thoughts, inspirational content, or both, including snippets of my journey and lessons learned. I aim to start a forum for questions to foster online conversations, whether seeking my insight or posing general inquiries to the public. My goal is to create a space to share my experiences and what has worked for me, encouraging others so they can succeed and inspiring them to share their stories as well. I hope everyone who reads and shares their views will be open-minded, fostering a safe environment for sharing personal opinions and perspectives while learning from others.

My goal in starting this blog was to establish an online identity and promote my book. More importantly, I wanted to use it as a platform to share my story and offer insights on topics I care about. I understand that not everyone will read or be interested.

This blog is for:

  • Those facing struggles may feel utterly alone.

  • Those who feel unheard or think differently from others.

  • Those seeking guidance.

  • Thofaithfulrue to themselves.

  • Those who challenge the boundaries of what's considered 'normal' or trending.
